You can get all these features and still maintain your @lawnet.ucla.edu e-mail address. Do I need to migrate if I forward emails? Yes, even if you forward all your mail to an external account like Google, Yahoo, or Hotmail you should still migrate your account. During the migration simply select the Forwarding option and uncheck all other items. This will migrate the forwarding rule to Google and your mail will continue to flow normally. However, please remember we do not migrate rules, if you forward using a rule it will not migrate. Read more about Google Calendar » Configuring your Smartphone There are two ways to read your LawNET email on your Smartphone: The first and the method that requires the least configuration is to point your Smartphone browser to the http://mail.lawnet.ucla.edu/ address. This will take you to the feature rich mobile experience of LawNET email. Unfortunately, this process tends to be slow because you cannot stay logged in for more than 30 minutes, and your Smartphone cannot automatically check your e-mail for you. If you need either of those features - the ability to stay logged in indefinietly without typing the username and password or you want your phone to automatically check your e-mail you have to use the second option. You can find out more about some of the features on the web-based mobile LawNET email experience. The second option and the most convenient option is to setup your Smartphone to receive LawNET e-mails using the IMAP protocol. How can I migrate my account? Migrating your account from the old system to the new LawNET email is an automated process. You are in complete control over the migration. You choose if you want to migrate your e-mail, your contacts and even your calendar entries among other things. Once we receive your request one of our systems will communicate with you using a secondary e-mail address or text message providing status updates on your migration status. Migration service is provided on a first-come-first-serve basis so signup today! Depending on the volume of requests, it can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 72 hours before your migration even starts. During this period you can continue to use the old system - but once you receive an e-mail (or text message) suggesting that the migration has begun you will not have access to your e-mail. Once the migration starts the process does not take any longer than 20 minutes. Migrate your account today » -- I've migrated to Gmail but I cannot find my e-mail? If you choose to migrate your e-mail we'll migrate your Inbox, Sent Items, Trash and all other sub folders and their messages from the old system to Gmail. Once the migration is complete we highly recommend that you go through the Gmail messages and verify that you have everything. Remember, once the migration is complete you cannot login to your old e-mail nor can you revert back to using the old system. -- How do I lookup faculty/staff e-mail? Unfortunately, currently you cannot look up faculty/staff e-mail addresses directly from Gmail. We are working very hard to provide this feature sometime very soon in the future. In the meantime, you can use the UCLA Law Online Directory to look up addresses for faculty, staff and students. Is LawNET email available to staff? No, UCOP (University of California, Office of the President) policies prohibit faculty and staff to use external communication mechanisms to serve business needs. How do I login to Gmail? Your Gmail credentials are the same as your LawNET credentails. The username and password you use to connect to the wireless network, the computer labs is what you would use to login to Gmail (LawNET email). Why cannot I login to Gmail? Accounts that have been migrated to Google can login to LawNET email account. When you try to login you get a message saying "Your username is not registered to access Google Applications. Please ...
